Life & Heritage
Beyond the Bar
Away from the courts and the Foundation's programmes, Madhavraje's life is rooted in family, in the festivals of Miraj, and in the music, sport and history he has followed since school.

Faith & Traditions
Festivals of Miraj
Each year the family celebrates a five-day Ganesh Utsav at the Ganpati Temple on Ganesh Talav, which the Miraj Trust is now renovating. The Ganpati who sits at the centre of the Miraj crest, and the motto beneath it, श्री गणपती चरणी तत्पर, are a daily reminder of that devotion.
Beyond the festival calendar, Madhavraje oversees the restoration of the Madhavji Devalay, built in 1799, and the reconstruction of the Ganpati Mandir at Miraj Killa.
Heritage
The House of the Patwardhans of Miraj
For more than two and a half centuries the Patwardhans have been custodians of Miraj Fort and the town around it, since the Saranjam of Miraj was granted in 1762. Madhavraje is the twelfth generation of the line. Since 2018 he has edited the family's history archive, and in 2023 he edited An Outline of the Patwardhan Dynasty.
